A transcript of Bob Woodward's interview of John Kerry is
posted today (10-15-2006) on WashingtonPost.com. As I was reading it, I was dumbstruck at one of Kerry's comments.
Kerry
was speaking about how he would have planned the attack on Iraq.
"I believe that during that particular
period of time you knew that they [the Taliban and al-Qaeda] had bad habits." (emphasis added)
Read
the full transcript here.
This is a good example of how many Dems view the dangers in the world.
Perhaps if we
would have viewed Hitler as having "bad habits" and treated him better, he wouldn't have over-run Europe.
I shutter
when I think that those with similar childish world views may soon win control of Congress.
Pope Benedict Under Fire for Comments on Islam
9-15-2006
Pope Benedict is under fire from Muslims throughout the world for
recent comments he made about a book on Islam. Read the article from MyWay.com titled "The Turkish Lawmaker Compares
Pope to Hitler" here.
Pope Benedict:
"The emperor (Byzantine
Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos) comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war...He said, I quote, 'Show me just what
Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the
sword the faith he preached.'"
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam:
"What he (the
Pope) has done is that he has quoted very offensive remarks by some emperor hundreds of years ago...It is not helpful (because)
we have been trying to bridge the gap, calling for dialogue and understanding between religions."
Aslam added
that Muslims have a history of tolerance. She noted that when Spain drove out the Jewish population in 1492 AD they were welcomed
by Muslim nations.
What Aslam left out was that in the same year (1492 AD) Ferdinand and Isabella re-conquered Spain
from the Muslims who had invaded and conquered Spain in 711 AD. Read about it here. (Paul Halsall, "Medieval Sourcebook: Ibn Abd-el-Hakem: The Islamic
Conquest of Spain", on Fordham.edu.)
Furthermore, Aslam left out the fate of non-Muslims (including Jews
and Christians) during Muslim rule of Spain from 711 AD to 1492 AD. During most of Muslim rule, non-Muslims were allowed to
worship, but were severely limited.
According to Warren H. Carroll, Ph.D., among other limitations:
"...from
the time of Muhammad to the early twentieth century, the conversion of any person from Islam to Christianity was absolutely
forbidden and punished by death. (In many recorded instances this punishment was relentlessly carried out.) Every Muslim and
all his descendants were regarded as legally bound forever to Islam."
Read Dr. Carroll's paper here titled "What Was the Standard Policy of Muslim States in Spain toward
Christians?"
The article further expands on the full extent of religious and other limitations on non-Muslims.
Meanwhile,
Pope Benedict has clarified his comments. Read the BBC News story titled "Pope 'meant no offence' to Islam" here.

Bush Will Not Support The Republican Opposing Lieberman (8-15-2006)
Tony Snow, Presidential Press Secretary: "We are
not making any endorsement in Connecticut. The Republican party of Connecticut has suggested that we not make an endorsement
in that race and so we're not." Read the story about that here.
A Republican President not endorsing a Republican candidate
rarely happens. In this case, George Bush put the welfare of the country above partisan politics. Sen. Joe Lieberman understands
the terrorist threat and supports the President's policies on national defense.
That is why I am a supporter of George Bush.
It
is sad that a good man like Joe Lieberman did not get the Dem nod in the primary. He will be running in the general election
as an independent.
It seems clear that the Dem party has been hijacked by the radical left. I shudder when I think
that Nancy Pelosi may end up as Speaker of the House - third in line to be President.
Bush, Faith and Politics 8/1/2006
Karen Armstrong, Monday July 31, 2006, in The Guardian foolishly attempted to link George Bush's Christian beliefs and his
faith with the many problems at home and overseas. Read her article titled "Bush's fondness for fundamentalism is courting
disaster at home and abroad" here.
Armstrong sees a major part of the problem as a struggle between
faith and science. She points to Thomas H Huxley, an advocate for the Origin of Species who concluded :
"One or
the other (faith or science) would have to succumb after a struggle of unknown duration."
As to the Bible
believing Christians wanting Intelligent Design taught in schools, Armstrong exclaims, like Huxley:
"The issue
splits the nation down the middle: fundamentalists want to win a battle for God; liberals and secularists are fighting for
truth and rationality."
(As Jesus said: "What is truth?")
Armstrong sees George Bush's
Christian views "courting disaster" in the world.
She attacks the President for banning federal funding of
stem cell research:
Bush: "This bill would support the taking of innocent human life in the hope of finding medical
benefits for others... It crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect."
Armstrong
even charges the President is ignoring civilian deaths in Lebanon because of his belief in the "end times" and Bible eschatology.
She argues that fundamentalist Christians, like Bush believe: "Christ cannot return, however, unless, in fulfillment of
biblical prophecy, the Jews are in possession of the Holy Land. (Does Armstrong know that Jesus said that no one knows
the time when He will return?)
Her ramblings on George Bush's faith go on and on to even include his failure to sign
the Kyoto treaty. Armstrong argues: why would Bush care about global warming "If the world is about to end?" (How
about if Bush signs it, the US economy suffers? How about, many scientists don't believe in global warming?)
Liberals
and secularists, like Armstrong, have a worldview that lacks faith. So sad - and irrational. Isn't it irrational to believe
that our world could come into existence and be so beautiful through mere chance? Their lack of knowledge of the Bible also
feeds their irrationality.
I know. After accepting Christ I saw things very differently. Call me a fundamental Christian
if you wish, but I call myself a Christian who believes the Bible and Jesus.
The truth is that George Bush, his faith
or his politics will never be understood by the secularists until they stop being secularists. I will pray for Ms. Armstrong
and other secularists.

Iraq Documents Prove Bush Was Right
One of the Captain's posts dated July 7, 2006 and titled Iraqi Documents: UNMOVIC Knew Of Renewed WMD Efforts (Updated And Bumped) is particularly interesting. It is about document CMPC-2003-003766.
I find the following snippets from the Captain's post very significant.
The Captain: "In a summary of a larger document, the translators found that Iraq had restarted its processing of castor-bean extraction, from which ricin can be developed -- and that UNMOVIC discovered it in December 2002."
From document CMPC-2003-003766 (P81): "Ricin toxin is found in the bean of the castor plant. UNMOVIC inspections since December 2002 have verified that the bombed caster oil extraction plant at Fallujah III has been reconstructed on a larger scale."
The Captain: "Once again, it looks like Saddam's own documentation makes it clear that he had never stopped working on WMD programs. This time, it also shows that UNMOVIC and the UNSC knew it."
The Captain: "UPDATE and BUMP: Hans Blix never mentioned ricin or castor beans in his UN presentation on March 7, 2003. In fact, it never even mentions the word "violation" once."
These revelations make it clear that the President made the correct decision about invading Iraq. It is outrageous and beyond sad that the UN, the MSM and liberal Dems will never admit that George Bush and the Republicans were right.
The Dems may have a big surprise in November when they find themselves again the minority party in Congress.
Jesus: Off The Wall? 7/8/2006
Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the West Virginia ACLU sued to have a picture of Jesus removed from a high school. The picture hung in the school for more than 30 years. Read the full story here.
Says Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United:
"I frankly cannot understand why this school insists that it is doing nothing wrong...This is pretty clear constitutional law. Public schools cannot promote specific religious ideas."
Hello. The Constitution is clear.
Amendment I
Congress (bold italics added) shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof;...
The painting of Jesus was approved by a local school board, not Congress.
A side note - How does hanging a picture of Jesus establish a religion anyway? When I was a substitute teacher I saw many pictures hanging on the walls of the schools I was in of Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses These Gods and Goddesses are worshiped today in many pagan religions. Read about this here.
Where is the outrage from groups like the Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the ACLU about this?
Lowell Ponte wrote in FrontPageMagazine.com (October 27, 1999): "Oddly, ACLU lawyers do not object to these pagan religion practices on public property or with public money." Read his in-depth article here.
UPDATE (7/8/2006) - Reader Underdog made a "super" comment to this post that is "right on".
"Apparently, Jesus is not the only great offensive truth today, but America itself is somehow inherently bad. The ACLU and similar backwards organizations are attacking anything that is right and true. This promotion of falsehood is prevalent throughout our society. My favorite latest example is seen in the Superman movie. Whereas Superman use to stand for something, "Truth, Justice and the American Way" to be precise, now he's aimlessly based on "Truth, Justice and all that Stuff". This minor change of Superman's motto in the latest film shows that America is too offensive, and only something as meaningless as "that stuff" is acceptable. This is nothing but pure absurdity. In spite of the direction of our culture, there is Truth, there is meaning, and there is Eternity in life. There's good and there's evil. Why pursue a false middle gound? Everyone has to decide which side they are on."

A 4th of July Tribute to Our Flag
7/4/2006
"In this grand and glorious banner, I see in the blue the blue of Heaven, in the stars, God's promise to Abraham,
'Your progeny will be as numerous as the stars of the Heavens' and the never-ending blessing that God is still on His throne!
I see in the red stripes that the blood of Jesus Christ was shed for me, and with Paul, stand firm in the knowledge that 'By
His stripes we are healed'. In the white, the purity of the babe of Bethlehem, Who became my Lord and Savior, the ultimate
fulfillment of all the line of ancient Prophets, the pure Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the universe."
